US Court of Appeals Denies Petition to Reclassify Marijuana

In a landmark decision issued on January 23rd, the US Court of Appeals rejected a petition to consider the Federal reclassification of marijuana from a Schedule I substance in the Control Substance Act.

What this means is that, with no removal of marijuana from Schedule I of the CSA, despite the State legalization of recreational marijuana use in Washington and Colorado, for the time being, marijuana will remain illegal in the United States.
